Automation Site Preparation Installation Technician (Remote role with 100% travel to project sites)

Position Overview We are seeking an Automation Site Preparation Installation Technician to join our nationwide electronics installation team supporting the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). This position requires 100% travel supporting FAA facilities throughout the United States, with travel typically aligned to FAA regional project assignments.
The selected candidate will be responsible for the installation, integration, testing, and support of FAA automation, communications, networking, and infrastructure systems at Air Route Traffic Control Centers (ARTCCs), Terminal Radar Approach Control (TRACON) facilities, and Air Traffic Control Towers (ATCTs).
Working alongside FAA Technical Operations, Engineering Services, contractors, and project teams, the successful candidate will help deliver critical infrastructure that supports the National Airspace System (NAS).
While the typical schedule is Monday through Friday, flexibility to work non-standard hours based on project requirements is essential.

Responsibilities
Support site preparation, installation, and integration of FAA automation systems including:
En Route Automation Modernization (ERAM)
Standard Terminal Automation Replacement System (STARS)
Oceanic Display and Planning System (ODPS)
Flight Data Input/Output (FDIO) systems
Various display systems and processing platforms
Install, configure, integrate, and test FAA automation, communications, networking, and electronic systems at ARTCC, TRACON, and ATCT facilities.
Perform site preparation activities including cabling, electrical connections, grounding, equipment installation, and system integration.
•Connect and integrate Telco requirements including Commercial Telco, Field Cable, Fiber Optics, and VOIP communications
Conduct equipment testing, validation, troubleshooting, and operational readiness activities while documenting results.
Perform baseline electronic readings, electronics testing procedures, and coordinate frequency outages while generating required documentation to satisfy customer and FAA requirements.
Read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, wiring diagrams, and installation packages.
Follow engineering packages, participate in required field modifications, and attend pre-installation meetings to ensure successful project execution.
Coordinate installation activities with FAA Technical Operations, Engineering Services, contractors, and project stakeholders.
Support LAN/WAN networking infrastructure and telecommunications systems, including fiber optics, commercial telecommunications, VOIP, and field cabling.
Install and support industrial computer systems and electronic networking equipment used in FAA and customer environments.
Remove legacy equipment and prepare required documentation for equipment disposition and project completion.
Provide technical guidance and support to installation team members while troubleshooting field issues and adapting to unique on-site challenges.
Maintain a safe work environment while following all applicable FAA, customer, and company procedures.
Travel extensively throughout the United States in support of project requirements.
Qualifications Required
U.S. Citizenship
Valid driver's license
Ability to obtain and maintain a federal background investigation/security clearance
Ability to independently cover travel expenses prior to reimbursement through the company travel process
Demonstrated experience installing, integrating, or maintaining electronic communications, networking, or automation systems
Working knowledge of LAN/WAN networking concepts, Microsoft Windows, and Microsoft Office
Understanding of Telco and networking equipment including Commercial Telco, RCL, Field Cable, VOIP, and Fiber Optics
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and wiring diagrams
Strong troubleshooting, documentation, and communication skills
Communicate effectively with team members, management, and stakeholders
Understand the practical implications of electrical and electronic circuitry
Preferred
Experience supporting FAA National Airspace System (NAS) equipment or infrastructure
Experience with FAA automation systems including ERAM, STARS, ODPS, FDIO, or similar platforms
Military experience, particularly Air Traffic Control, communications, avionics, or electronics
Experience working in industrial, transportation, aviation, or mission-critical environment
Physical Requirements
Ability to lift up to 75 pounds and move equipment weighing up to 350 pounds using appropriate material handling equipment
Ability to climb ladders and work at heights exceeding 60 feet
Ability to stand, kneel, crouch, bend, and work in confined spaces for extended periods
Ability to work in varying indoor and outdoor environments and occasionally under time-sensitive conditions
Must be in good physical condition and able to pass a physical fitness assessment if required
