Job Description:

General Requirements

The Business Development Manager is responsible for identifying and developing strategic relationships with partners or potential customers in the medical Initial Outfitting and Transition (IO&T) field.  The expectation is to develop a strong pipeline of new customers and projects in accounts through direct or indirect customer contact and prospecting.  The Business Development Manager will work with members of Martek’s Medical & Healthcare team and Corporate Management team to implement business development initiatives.  They must be familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the medical facilities field and will rely on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.

Responsibilities & Duties

The Business Development Manager is responsible for driving sustainable financial growth through boosting sales and forging strong relationships with IO&T clients.  Additionally, they will be expected to utilize their contacts to expand the other Division’s within Martek.  Their duties include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Develop a growth strategy focused both on financial gain and customer satisfaction
  • Conduct research to identify new markets and customer needs
  • Arrange business meetings with prospective clients
  • Promote the company’s products/services addressing or predicting clients’ objectives
  • Prepare sales contracts ensuring adherence to law-established rules and guidelines
  • Keep records of sales, revenue, invoices etc.
  • Provide trustworthy feedback and after-sales support
  • Build long-term relationships with new and existing customers
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Job Qualifications:

Educational Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or a similar relevant field.

Experience Requirements

At least 3 years of proven business development experience in the area of hospital activations or other medical IO&T actions. Additionally, they must possess a proven sales track record as well as market knowledge of the IO&T industry.

Additional Required Knowledge and Skills

  • IO&T Project or Program management
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite
  • Superior communication and negotiation skills
  • Experience with presentations and briefings
  • Ability to build rapport
  • Time management and planning skills

 

NOTE: While Martek's corporate office is in Bethesda, MD, this position can work remotely provided the person is available to travel.
